Attorney Dale Schafer has been practicing law, in California for more than 30 years.

In 1999, he and his then wife, Dr. Mollie Fry, opened the first medical/legal medical cannabis recommendation clinic in Cool, California. The purpose, of the medical/legal clinic, was to educate every patient about the California State Law, their rights under the law and what to do if they were to be approached by law enforcement. Additionally to offer valid medical cannabis recommendations under Proposition 215.

After playing a part in the political campaign for Proposition 64, Mr. Schafer now assists California cannabis businesses in understanding the new MAUCRSA regulations

Matthew Kumin, Esq.

Matt Kumin is a California civil rights and business attorney and political consultant whose national practice focuses on cannabis.

He started his law practice in 1995, one year before Californian’s voted for the Compassionate Use Act.

Matt graduated  from Brown University (B.A. with Honors, 1980) and Northeastern University School of Law (J.D. 1986).

His cannabis practices now focuses on helping transition clients – investors, entrepreneurs, cultivators, manufacturers, distributors – into the new, regulated market.

Matt was the architect of and litigated the seminal federal income tax case, CHAMP v. Com’r. of the IRS (128 Tax Court No. 14, 2007), the first case of its kind, which created an important exception to the law that disallows cannabis businesses to deduct expenses.

He is also a principal in the cannabis consulting firm, Alan, Kumin and Associates, which assists clients in obtaining local cannabis permits and state licenses.
